SPANISH LANGUAGE

This institute will develop the pre-A.P. curriculum through to the A.P. with strategies to develop higher level skill in speaking, listening, reading and writing. The examination in Language will be thoroughly reviewed together with the latest changes to the upcoming format.

Day One:

1. General Introductions and assessment of group needs
    and desires
2. Review of the exam for 2008
3. Discussions of the overall rigors of the entire 4-6
    year language programs
     a. textbook sequencing
     b. tracking
     c. specific pre-AP topics: reading and writing

4. Materials post textbook programs

Day Two:

Morning
1. Teaching Speaking
2. Teaching Listening

Afternoon
3. Informal Speaking
4. Formal Speaking

Day Three:

Morning
1. Listening activities
2. Reading
3. Equity
4. Development of the A.P. Syllabus

Afternoon
1. Informal Writing
2. Formal Writing

Day Four:
1. Presentation of Materials developed by participants
2. Wrap-up, Conclusions

Dr. Michele de Cruz-Saenz - Dr. Michele S. de Cruz-Saenz has been teaching at the Graduate, Undergraduate and Secondary levels for the past thirty-four years. She has taught Advanced Placement Spanish Language and Literature since 1982, and been an A.P. reader and consultant since 1985. She is Chairman of the Foreign Language Department in the Wallingford Swarthmore School District, PA.
